If you don&#8217;t get treatment, then HIV can develop into AIDS. If you have AIDS, you will become ill and may die.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Cura\u00e7ao, Bonaire and Aruba, AIDS remains a public health concern. In some cases, this may be due to individuals being unaware of their HIV status. Without treatment, the virus can progress to AIDS over time. This is called acute HIV infection. Symptoms you may have are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fever<\/li>\n<li>Nightsweats<\/li>\n<li>Tiredness<\/li>\n<li>Sore throat<\/li>\n<li>Diarrhea<\/li>\n<li>Skin rash (marks on your skin)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Usually, symptoms appear 1 to 6 weeks after becoming infected with HIV.&nbsp;<br \/>Some people don&#8217;t have symptoms. Have you had sex without a condom? Or do you have symptoms that might point to HIV? Then go to your doctor or the <a href=\"https:\/\/gobiernu.co\/soa-poli\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CSGC <\/a>for an HIV test.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have an increased chance of HIV, then it&#8217;s advisable to be tested regularly. Or to talk to your doctor about whether you should take\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/curlovecare.com\/topics\/hiv-prevention\/\">PrEP<\/a>\u00a0. The treatment consists of antiretroviral medications. If you take your pills the right way every day:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will stay healthy<\/li>\n<li>You won&#8217;t be able to pass HIV on to anyone else. That&#8217;s because a pregnant woman with HIV can pass the virus on to her baby if she doesn&#8217;t get treatment. This can happen during the delivery or while breast feeding.
