unprotected sex? take action

Have you had penis-in-vagina sex without being protected by the pill, a condom or another contraceptive? Then there’s a chance that an egg has been fertilized by a sperm cell.

When is there a chance of pregnancy?

  • If you have penis-in-vagina sex without using reliable contraception or a condom
  • If semen or pre-ejaculate enters the vagina
  • If you take the pill, but you’ve missed 1 or more pills
  • If you take the pill and you experience vomiting or diarrhea within 3 hours of taking it
  • If the condom breaks and you are not using any other contraception
  • If something goes wrong with your contraceptive ring, patch, injection, hormone implant or IUD

Don’t want to get pregnant?

You have emergency contraception options.

  1. Morning-after pill

Get the morning-after pill, often referred to as emergency contraception, from the pharmacy or Fundashon Famia Plania as soon as possible. You can do this without a prescription. If you do this within 5 days after sex, the chance that you are pregnant is small. The sooner you do this, the more effective it is.

  1. Copper IUD (Intrauterine Device)

You can have a copper IUD inserted in your uterus. This can be done up to 5 days after unprotected sex. Go to your doctor or Fundashon Famia Plania for this. After that, a copper IUD protects you against pregnancy for 5 to 10 years.

Do you want to get pregnant?

Wait patiently, then take a pregnancy test . You can do this from the first day that your period should have started. You can buy pregnancy tests at the pharmacy. You can also do a pregnancy test at Fundashon Famia Plania

Partners, you can do something too!
