Talking about contraception

The pill and other contraceptives protect against pregnancy. But how do you talk about it all?

Tips for girls

You decide if and when to have children. Choose the contraception that works best for you, and a supportive partner will respect your choices and share the responsibility.

  • Have an open conversation with your partner about using contraception – it’s a shared responsibility.
  • Encourage your partner to explore this website to learn more about the various contraception options out there.
  • Discuss which contraceptive best suits your needs. Look at types of contraception other than the pill too.
  • Make an appointment with your doctor to explore your options. Or stop by Fundashon Famia Plania

Tips for boys

The same goes for boys: if you don’t want an STI or to make someone pregnant, make sure you always have sex with a condom!

  • Have an open conversation with your partner about using contraception – it’s a shared responsibility.
  • Become informed about the various contraceptive methods available.
  • Support your partner in her contraception of choice.
  • Offer to accompany her to the doctor for appointments about contraception.

Remember!

If you want to stop using condoms and only use the pill or another type of contraception, take an STI test first
