Seeking help

If something is bothering you, talking about it is a relief! You can do this with someone you know. You could also talk to someone you don’t know, like a healthcare professional or someone from a support organization like FOKO and Curaçao Pride. Or you could ask questions anonymously on the internet.

Talking about transgender feelings

  • Transtopia at FOKO offers support to anyone in Curaçao looking for somewhere to express their gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender feelings.

Love, sex and relationships

  • Personal advice: Chat, email or call with Ayudo pa Mucho i Hoben.
  • Sex therapist: a sex therapist can help you with sexual problems. For example: if you want to be in the mood for sex more often – or less – if you can’t have an orgasm, or if you don’t feel good when making love. In Curaçao, the number of psychologists specializing in sex therapy is limited. But discuss with your General Practitioner getting a referral to a sex therapist.

It’s good to note, not all sex therapists are equally knowledgeable about transgender people and sex. Emphasize to your doctor you would like a referral to someone with these expertise. If this is not possible, there may be some online therapy options, however these are usually not covered by your insurance provider.
